    et al,

Installed to E:\drive - hacked xpcom.dll to redirect profile directory - (ergo: using rc1 profile) so far so good.

Only thing I noticed during install was a "brief flash" about "cleaning up GRE .....
    to fast to read.

rc1 still working ok as far as I can tell.

TAB append UI pref seems to be working again.

I will keep dinkin' and see if anything happens.

    regards:

    re: mozilla version 1.5 rc2

I checked the new releases everyday but have to tell you guys are way faster. My policy is to use only the fianl because mozilla have worked fine since version 1.0 for my purpose which is surfing. :)

    Ramona,

How important is it to start a new profile whem moving to a new version of Netscape/Mozilla, and not to share a profile with different versions?

Perhaps I was a little vague:

IMHO shareing profiles is NOT a good idea. The newer version will write any changes made to default settings to the prefs.js file.....some may not be supported by older versions and cause problems.

I do not share profiles, what I was refering to was "using" a profile previously created in 1.5rc1 profile- My concern at the time was to see if you could have 1.5rc1 and 1.5rc2 both on the same system.

I have since "removed" rc1 with no apparent effects on rc2.

removeing rc1 via ADD/REMOVE did remove the rc1 GRE file:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\Gre\1.5b_2003091616\

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

    Labarum,

As captjlddavis states, it is very important to not share a profile between Mozilla and Netscape.
The same advice was given in the Mozilla 1.0 FAQ.

Whether or not you create a new profile is a personal decision. I don't create a new profile when upgrading, if there is no problem with the existing profile. If you're upgrading because of a problem, then by all means do a "Clean Install ".

    Ramona :D
