    I have lost my taskbar for windows XP, it has gone back to Windows Classic. I cannot get it back from System tools because it no longer exists in there. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to restore it back to XP please ??

    Hi,

    What do you mean with "lost" and "went back to classic "? Have you tried to press CRTL-ESC keys to see if the Start menu and taskbar appears? If it appears, it was hidden. If it was, right click/Properties and unhide. If this is not the case, check if the Application Data/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch folder in your profile (you may have to unhide it) exists. If not, let me know when you find out how to recovery it...

    Cheers,

    :D

    The are several things in Windows XP that can be changed to Classic Style i.e. Start Menu, Themes, Appearance, etc.

    In reading your post I'm not sure which of these you are actually referring to, and whether or not you are also experiencing a problem with your taskbar disappearing, so the following directions explain how to go back to an XP Start Menu, How to always have the Taskbar displayed, and How to change the Taskbar back to XP Style;

    START MENU

    Right click on the Start Button, select properties from the popup menu, on the Start Menu tab select Start Menu (not Classic Start Menu) and then click Apply.

    TASKBAR ALWAYS ON TOP

    Now click on the Taskbar tab and place a checkmark in the following options; Lock the Taskbar, Keep the Taskbar on Top of Other Windows, and Show Quick Launch. Make sure that there is no checkmark in Auto-Hide the Taskbar. Then click on Apply and OK.

    XP STYLE TASKBAR

    Right click on empty area of the Desktop, select Properties from the popup menu, click on the Appearance Tab and under the area entitled "Windows and Buttons" select Windows XP Style from the dropdown menu, then click Apply and OK.

    Hope this helps. :)
