Edit Note: I merged two of these threads and deleted the 3rd one. It was getting too confusing trying to deal with basically the same issue in 3 threads. - Newt

    hello

    can someone help me plz?

My computer wasn't responding so I just turned it off so when I try to restart its asking me if i want to let it run in safe mode and ... one option there says if i didn't shut it down right or if windows wasn't responding then choose this option. I tried ALL off them, BUT after I press Enter it FREEZES because the way I know if it Froze or not is that I was pressing the num lock key and it was working until after i press the ENTER key. I waited for more than an hour but it didn't work. I think there is a virus or someone hacked in my computer or somethin.
can anyone tell me what to do next ?

    thax

    Hello wXm,

Have you tried booting from your installation cd? I don't know how new your system is, but if its no more than 2 years old, the BIOS should recongnize the cd rom and boot from it.

To do this, insert the cd, shut down completely, then start up with the physical "on" button on the tower.

If you can get that far, you'll be able to do some investigating of your dirve. Anyway, post back.

    Regards - Charles

    Hello wXm,

Not clear on whether your problem is after a reinstall? If yes, two possibilities:

You have a virus that infected the Master Boot record/BIOS or there is a hardware problem.

Please confirm whether you can boot at all or not. If after the reinstall, not, you're going to have to get someone else to look at the system. The OEM or a repair facility.

Hope someone else can come up with something better, but that's my take on the problem.

    Regards - Charles

Edit note: thread merged with another on the topic to avoid confusion. - Newt

The first thing I'd try is to boot into Safe Mode and remove the video card (Start button>Right click on My Computer>click on Properties then go to the Hardware tab>Device Manager button, expand Display Adapter category by clicking on the plus sign to its left, right click on the Display Adapter listed there and choose Uninstall).

Reboot and let Windows detect and reinstall the video card.

    Hello wXm,

Try this. Go into MS updates and see if there is an update for your video driver.

Search on here for NTFS FAT32 and you'll find lots of threads that have the differences in great detail.
