    Here goes......
by going in msconfig, theres the System Configuration Utility. I dont know what a untouched one is supposed to look like (whats checked and which are not). But my main concern is the start up tab. In the past I had dialers and such on the comp, and other disruptive programs are still named here in start up, although they are not checked. My questions are how do I delete them permanently and which used programs can I leave checked and which can I get rid of period? Im trying not to use loads of mem and make room on the computer. oh yeah, may I post a cap of the utility? (may be beneficial for answers) Thanks.

Go to Start\Run, type in Regedit and press Enter. Using the +'s navigate to this keys and delete it.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\-Run
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\-RunServices
Note the - sign, you will see a similarly named key without it. Leave that one alone.
You can compare what you have starting up to what is on the following link.
It will tell you what they are, and if they are needed.
    Things Starting Up
After finding, click under the Letter they are headed under and you will get the page with the full listings.

I don't think so, neither will Regcleaner, or Hijack This. Going through Regedit is the only way I am aware of.
