Is there a way to stop Windows XP from telling me I have new programs installed? I don't mind the color but the message is annoying and won't go away until you have launched the program from the start menu.

My computer speaks swedish but I hope You get there despite my translations:

    Right-click on the start button,
choose properties > start menu > customize > advanced and untick "Mark newly installed programs ".

Right click on the Start button, click Properties.

Click Customize, then in the next box that pops-up choose the advanced tab.

Untick "Highlight my newly install programs "

    Is that what your after?

Dont understand about the message. What message are you receiving? I dont recall any programs displaying a message before I had ran it when I first installed XP and installed programs.
