Can anybody tell me how I can remove obsolite folders from my free space at BT Openworld. When I try and remove them using FTP Manager it doesn't let me.
I can clear the files within the folders but not the folders them selves.
    Cheers

KDC - do you get an error message? It is very possible for your account to have rights to create a folder but not to remove it.

Have you tried connecting with the ftp app built into your PC and using the rmdir command? It may or may not work but is certainly going to give you an error message if it fails that might help diagnose the problem.

    Hi Newt,
What ever I do I can't remove the files. Maybe you're right I haven't got the permission rights to remove them.
Here's the error when I try:

Error 550 /pub/old8/old8: No such file or directory

    Cheers

KDC - the link here is for another system but I think it may give you an idea of where your problem lies. The main listing and a link from it both have good information about what Unix means when it gives you a 550. It certainly could be that there is no such file or folder but often it gives the error when the resource exists but it is confused about where to find it.

    http://faq.realcart.com/error550-.html

I've only done ftp from a command line but I'd expect that if you did an ls command and the resource showed up, you could do a rmdir and give the full path and it would be removed.
