I was reading one of the articles on the windows-help.net regarding system resources. It referred to the Windows Resource Meter which can be reached through Accessories on the Windows 9x platform. My question is - does XP have anything similar to this resource meter that will show how much of the resources is being taken up? Thanks!

    Hello and welcome putermom,

If there is one, I've never found it. In XP there isn't a seperate "resource" category. The system resources are the amount of RAM installed + virtual memory or "swap file" - if defaulted, 1.5 times the RAM amount. Same as 9X.

If you hit ctl - alt - del you bring up the Task Manager.

In the process tab: shows the amount of memory each process uses.

In the performance tab, shows ram + vm (from above) + how much is currently being used. Under the "commit" column, the load on the system at the moment. Under Kernel memory (swap file) how much is used - not used at the moment. The other columns are straitfoward as to what they are.

    Regards - Charles

    Thanks!

    Charles,

Thanks for the info. I've used control+alt+delete but have never clicked on the other tabs. I appreciate your help.
