"files for the recovery diskette could not be written; process is aborted "
This is type of error message I get when I try and utilize the windows xp backup utility's ASR program(automated system recovery_)

I've loaded the back-up utility from the windows xp disc and have the backup utility. Now, why doesn't this work?

I know there must be several old posts in the help-net data base of "archived files" but how about this:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q302700

And for a reference and a bunch of personal opinions, recommendations and links, how about this:[scroll down to section entitled "With Win XP, Home Version ", Backing Up Is Hard To Do!!!" and try a few of the links provided]

With Win XP, Home Version ", Backing Up Is Hard To Do!!!

    http://www.uninet.net/~blaisdel/whistler.htm

:D While this may be, eventually, ironed out and acceptable for simple file backups, you may decide this is less than ideal for system/harddrive backup/recoveries.

Looks like you need to take a deep breath, do some yoga to relax and possibly read why you really should be shopping for an alternative user friendly backup utility. Archives must be full of "Tried and True" recommendations, such as Ghost or BackupNow.

Please forgive me, if this post is not right on target. I don't seem to get the time to check into the board as frequently as I once did and am way behind on my "common/frequent problems and fixes ". Generally I sit in the background bleachers to "watch and learn" from the [much more] competent board members who respond to posts in this forum. I just got a little antsy and decided to take a poke at it....Hope it helps.
