Do any of you have experience, pro or con, with Intel's Application Accelerator? There's a recommendation for it in a recent issue of "PC World" and I'm curious what this BBS's members think of it.

I use it with a P4 I built; it works just fine.

dmz1967: Thanks for replying. I was about to give up on getting any feedback from anybody.

I downloaded and installed the thing the other day. I can't say that so far I've noticed any real difference. The first time or two I booted up, there seemed to be some slight delays as different things had to recognize the change. Since then, about the same as before as near as I can tell. Have you noticed any improvements of any kind?

I've downloaded and installed the program mentioned.

I think it is causing me some problems. Not for sure but after the installation I've noticed that when I have a Web page open and click on a link from that page, sometime I immediately get a blank (Cannot be Found). It happens so quick that I can see why the page didn't load. I only have to click Refresh and the link loads fine.

Not saying the Accelerator did it but I am suspect. Never had this to happen before. Otherwise I'm not expert enough to tell if there are other advantages that I can't see.

My limited research on it says it helps when a hard drive is above a certain capacity and a cpu above a certain speed. I'm not sure it does anything for older items as mentioned.

If you're getting blank pages on a regular basis and still have the downloaded file to reinstall, just uninstall it and cruise for awhile. That way you'll isolate the hiccup down to the accelerator.

After reading and replying to your post, I decided to uninstall the program. I have it on a disk should I wish to put it back.

Not once since I uninstall have I gotten the blank page. I don't have a way to check speed except for a guess visually, but I sure tbink that since removal it is finding and loading page faster. I'm on a dial-up connection and that is slow anyway.

Maybe someone with a high speed connection would benefit with this more than the slower connection, and then maybe I'm all wet about the whole thing!!!
