    Hi Everyone,

I use IE 6.0. At one time I set my links to show blue and followed (clicked) links to show purple. On some pages the colors are too close and it's hard to tell which is which.

I went to >Tools >Internet Options >Colors and changed my color options, but the links still turn the same blue and purple as always. I tried rebooting after changing them, that didn't help. When I go back to Colors it indicates the new colors I chose, but the old colors are still showing up.

    Any ideas? TIA

    Hi Brett,

I deleted temp files including all offline content, and even tried rebooting again. No change. Any more suggestions?

    TIA

    Lily,

You are right :) changed the colours, rebooted - still blue/purple.

    No ideas I'm afraid.

I used to have different link colors, but now I'm guessing it was when I was using an earlier version of IE.

With my present version (6.0) I changed the hover color and that works. But it doesn't help me a bit. Hmmmm.

    New Development

I found that on this page the clicked links turn yellow, the new color option I chose. (Take the "How Old is My Inner Child" quiz to check it out. :D )

In all my surfing, most pages don't turn yellow, including this one.

So, it must be depend on each web site, huh?

That's pretty much it. The web page can contain code that designates the colors. I don't think there's much you can do about it. FWIW, mine acts exactly the same as your's on the pages you posted here. On this one, http://www.chowhound.com/main.html#boards it uses blue for unvisited and purple for visited. On the other it uses the colors I've selected. Seems to me there used to be an option in IE's options to always use the colors you selected but I can't seem to find it. Perhaps it was in an older version of IE.

In that case, based on my surfing experiences, 98% of webpages dictate the blue/purple link colors. I can't imagine why anyone would even bother to put that code in their page. I think the page that prodded me to change my colors must dictate medium blue/dark blue links, cuz I honestly can't see which is which.
