I installed a firewire in my computer, but when I put in the Win98 CD for it to install the drivers, it wouldn't install them. It said it encountered an error I believe the error code was 0F or 1F, something like that. It said it couldn't install the Texas Instruments driver. Is there any way I can get the machine to like the firewire card? It's a PCI card.

Getting sketchy info from google reads per "firewire" install problems with w98....
"Windows 98SE, WinMe, Win2000 and Windows XP come with built-in 1394 drivers that work with FireWire products. The driver that is used is called "NEC OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller" or "OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller ".
Are you running 98SE?... Would help if you post firewire card Make/Model information.

    * Right click on your "My computer" icon. Pull down and choose Preferences. In the box that comes up, it should say Windows 98 Second Edition. If it does not show Second Edition, or if the date reads 4/10/98, you will need to upgrade to Windows 98 SE in order to use this product.

**Shawdowhawk, the above info pertains to w98 and various brands of firewire cards and installs**

I don't know the make or model of the card. It came with my scanner which is a Umax Astra 6400. I've been using it on the firwire port that's included with my Audigy card. That firwire port uses the driver you mentioned. The firewire card wants to use a different driver, one from Texas Instruments.

Update: I ran the install again and this time it let me install the drivers.
