I have an email account sheenada@yahoo.com, as a spam collection address. The Democratic party recently sent me email about getting rid of George Bush (good idea). No big deal as I am a registered democrat. The part which they have yet to reply to my inquiry is rather interesting. The body of the mail started with Dear : My mom's first and last real name.

Mom has computer phobia, no email no accounts of any kind. She will look at the screen but has never touched the keyboard or mouse. How did these people manage to associate sheenada@yahoo.com with mom's information?

FYI; The state of Pennsylvania will sell the entire list(s) of name address phone # etc. for anyone having a driver's license or registering a vehicle wiith the state. $2000 the last I checked.

The US postal service will sell all the information contained in the change of address form. I am not sure about the pricing on this one.

When you signed up for the yahopo account you were to provide a 'secret name' to help you remember password in times of account recovery. Chances are they asked for mother's name.

Yahoo may or may not sell this info, their discretion and right to do so per their eula.

That makes sense Tony, except I never had a secret question. The sell my infrmation must have been part of the quick login to yahoo when they bought me along with Geocities.
