I have a domain and I'd like to have it dynamicly linked to my home PC. I know that there are some free dynamic subdomains out there but how would I go about linking my dot-com. Oh by the way, I would like this to be free hehe

    Thank you

Sorry, let me be more presice...

I have a dot-com that I host my website on on a paid server and I can make sub-domains all I want. What I want to do is have a subdomain point to my home computer which has a dynamic IP using somekind of dynamic DNS software like DNS2GO.

If you need more explaination, let me know.

    Thanks. Got it.

    How about WinIP?

If that won't do it for you, a google search for dynamic dns software gives around 470K hits. You'd have to sift thru since most cost $$$ and other hits aren't what you want but there should be something there to do the job for you.

WinIP looks interesting... I haven't tried it so I really can't tell you much about it.

With your problem, even with dynamic DNS, you will still have an issue with propagations timing. Even at low TTL, there is still a time when a DHCP address change and someone tries to access your computer, it will be a few minutes or even hours before they are able to grab a new IP address unless they use your direct Dynamic DNS server as their DNS server.

Also, setting up Dynamic DNS must come from your DNS provider... you may want to contact them in the event you are looking to set up Dynamic DNS. Most ISPs and web hosting providers do not offer this service.

Of course, the best way is to get a static IP address and all will be good.

    Good luck.
