Just got back from my HONEYMOON :D and the computer was shut off for a few days (Oh, well!). Now when I start the computer, I get a bad checksum and I have to go into the startup (delete key) and change the processor speed, and the date etc...sometimes it wants to know whether I want to load default or optimal settings. Then everything is fine, until the next time it is completely shut down. I suspect the battery in my motherboard has gone bad? I have one of those controversial ECS K7S5A motherboards (hey, when it works, it's great!) Anyone ever have to change the battery in one of these? Did it work? Am I better off dumping it and going with a new motherboard? I thought about posting this in "Hardware ", but I'm wondering if I am even on the right track with the battery. Anything else I should check out before I do surgery on this wonderful system that I have finally got to run perfectly (TG the freezes are GONE!!) Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
    TIA
    Johanna

Just for interest I too have an Elite K7S5A ver3 motherboard and I have experianced the same troubles. I replaced the battery and although it has improved it still occurs from time to time. It doesn't seem to have any pattern or seem to hurt anything except my patience with it.
