I use Netscape 7.1 that has a version of AIM built into it. For some reason, about a week ago, the program will just shut off. I downloaded the newer version of the AIM program and run it separately but it also shuts down for no apparent reason.

I have no idea why it's doing this as i've had no problems with it prior to last week. I have made no changes to my system so really don't understand why it started this.

I'm running WinXP on a Gateway P3 2.4mhz with 512mr of ram. I have ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall protection on a cable internet connection.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this problem and how I could correct it?

    Many thanks....

    Hi KennyV1967

    Few questions to get started.....
Has ZA always played nice with AIM previously?
Do you use Netscape WEBmail accessed through Netscape email client?
When AIM/NIM shuts down, are you opening email program/checking mail/downloading mail?

    Dennis,

I cured my AIM problem. I cannot believe how I did it either. After all my crying, whining, moaning and groaning about NEVER going to Internet Explorer...I SWITCHED! ARRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!! But it solved my AIM problem! hehe :)

This isn't quite as bad as I thought it would be actually. Netscape 7.1 seems kind of buggy and never did work as I thought it should.

I'm going to stick it out here with IE I think. The biggest thing about not using Netscape that i'll miss will be having problems and getting advice from our wonderful moderator here, Ramona! :)

    Thanks anyways, Denny!

AOL rushed 7.1 out the door as they were shutting off the lights at Netscape. It is unfortunate you had to be exposed to such a poor effort on what was the "Best" of the browser world. But life goes on in Mozilla 1.5. With stability and resources addressed, the quality we expect has returned. With absolutely no issues with AIM, you can return to your favorite browser the way you remembered it.
    Good luck, happy surf'en.

    Kenny!

What's this, you've abandoned us? :( Don't go, we're getting down to the good stuff now, with Mozilla 1.5.

Be sure and keep those security patches, and Windows updates current, because you won't be safe like you were with Netscape!

    We'll miss you,

    Ramona :D
