XP Really Dragging, Delay After Execution

This post could go to Security/Trojan/Virii, but I feel it is more appropriate for here since it isn't really on removal. If I'm wrong about this just leave a reply and I will kindly post it in another section. Here is my problem,

I installed Norton and discovered that I had Backdoor SDBot running on my computer (for some reason the cleaner didn't pick it up) so I norton found it, I quarantined it, rebooted in safe mode and deleted the infected file, pnpdev. I rebooted again and ran normal mode, but now my computer is dragging some serious ass. There is at least a 1 second delay on anything I run. When I type a web address into IE and push enter it hangs for 2 seconds then pops right up (1.8 gigz and wireless LAN) so its not my connection or hardware. I thought maybe pagefile.sys was infected cuz i know the cleaner cant scan that, so I disabled system restore, turned off virtual memory paging, rebooted and deleted pagefile.sys through a dos prompt, i then set the minimum and maximum to 125 mb so the file wont ever change and i dont have to worry about defragging 5 times just to get it all in one spot. BUT IT STILL HANGS AND DRAGS ASS!!  . If anyone can offer me any help I would greatly appreciate it and return the favor if possible. I consider myself very good on software problems but I am stumped   . Any help at all is again, Greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

    Jason

Take a look at the Symantec site and search for Backdoor SDBot - there would appear to be more than just running Norton involved to remove it and you may have other virus related problems

I did everything on semantic, but none of the registry entries were there. I also scanned again with norton, but found nothing. This has really got me stumped.

125 MB seems really small. I have a 766 MB size on mine. A full system dump requires around 525 MB I believe.

In any case, there really is no benefit is managing the pagefile.sys manually. Personally, I would just let the system handle it.

I ran into something like this the other night. Try SpyBot SD. you can get it from http://www.download.com.com and that url isn't a stutter :) Turns out that having a lot of adware/spyware/parasites can slow down your computer a *lot* more than I would ever have expected. If you use iMesh, leave the Cydoor stuff in or it'll stop working. Another thing to try after running is go to http://www.doxdesk.com This guy has a wonderful detection script that finds a lot of things that SpyBot doesn't and he even has manual removal instructions :)

    Hope this helps,
    Chris
