Hi all: I'm puzzled by some entries when I open the GoBack Deluxe log window that keeps track of the OS as it opens and closes applications and files.

Running XP Home, Primary Master IDE drive has "C" with OS and partition "D" with installed programs. I have other drives on this machine, when opening their related GoBack log these entries are not present.

These entries are repeated hundreds, no, probably thousands of times, each entry 2 and 3 times a second, as long as the machine is running.

    They are:
    "File created: C:\Windows\System32\cofig\systemprofileLocal Settings\temporatyinternetfiles\content\IE5\ODEP696F\wancommoninterfaceConfig(25).XML "

Immediately following that entry is the identical entry except it is noted as "File Deleted:

As I said, these entries appear, File Created, File Deleted, both, minimaly each second on the log clock and never stop.

There are other log entries which appear repeatedly, but only between a hundered or more of the file deletions and creations.

Can anybody tell me what's going on here and why files/entries would have to be created and then deleted over and over again?

Are you connected to a WAN (Wide Area Network) or do you have a prog running in background which might just be trying to access a WAN. What type of Internet connection do you use???

Hi Wingman: I was beginning to think that nobody was going to respond to this post! Thanks for restoring my faith in WindowsBBS.

Yes, I have a wireless network here at home and WAN is running.

Three Windows XP Home custom computers networked using D-Link wireless equipment. Host computer wire connected to D-link 614+ wireless access point. Connection then goes to DSL router @ 768mb per sec.

Client computers both with D-link 520+ PCI wireless network cards @ 22mb. Network seems to be working OK with some glitches now and then. Most notably, sometimes one cannot connect to Windows update, and that problem seems to cycle between the two. Sometimes one can't connect, sometimes the other.

These files are created and deleted each second, using cpu cycles, generating hard drive activity and eating up the space alloted to GoBack for storage of safe restore points.

If there is some application running in the background that is doing this, I can't find it.

    Any help would be appreciated.
