    Hello ssmith10pn,

I don't know of a way to backup passwords other than copy & paste to either a notepad - word - wordpad document.

One way to alliviate the problem is to take "pictures" of all your settings and stored passwords before hand. Thanks to a poster, Margot, this is the way to use the print screen key: hold down the <Alt> key and hit the <Print Screen> key. Bring up Wordpad or Word and paste. The image will be the top window.

    Regards - Charles

My passwords only show up as dots...any way to make them show the letters and numbers?

The simple answer is - no!

BTW did you know that, in XP at least, the number of dots bears no relationship to the actual number of characters in the password? Another (welcome) security measure.

Yes, and I have a trusty index card taped to the bottom of my keyboard so that when the inevitable reinstall occurs, I don't have to email every account for the user ids and passwords! (Because I lose my OE stuff all the time!) I also try to keep them all simple or close to the same...hey, I have no high finance or state security issues on my home computer! I just need to know how to log into my Schwans account, for example, without having to ask for help! :D

There are numerous programs out there that can be of assistance.

The one I use is RoboForm, which is FREE and can be found HERE

As well as auto filling and submitting your user name and password.....various...you can create a folder and or just download them to floppy for safekeeping.

    Hope this helps.
