I put a file called REMIND.BAT in my StartUp queue to display a series of reminders and notes in the DOS screen when I power up. It works fine except it creates REMIND.PIF. If I remove the BAT the PIF won't work. If I remove the PIF and execute the BAT it creates another PIF. The problem is, when I power up or do CTRL-ALT-DEL they both execute and create two boxes in the taskbar, doing exactly the same thing. How do I get only one to run? (I'm running Windows ME on a Compaq Presario.) (This was working fine until about the time Global-Finder hijacked my Yahoo! home page.)

Global-Finder is still there. I type in the address for Yahoo! and get there, but pretty soon Global-Finder returns. I found message boards indicating that this is happening around the world. Solution, anyone?

I'll see what I can do. But my question is really about the StartUp. Having both a .BAT and a .PIF is causing the displays to happen twice. Help?

Have the PIF file in the startup instead of the BAT file, it should work.

Like I said, if I remove the BAT then the PIF won't work. But now nothing works. Yesterday both REMINDs in the StartUp queue did their thing. I powered down last night, powered up today. REMIND goes to DOS and back to Desktop as it should, but it doesn't display a thing. But I have a REMIND.BAT in \WINDOWS\COMMAND\EBD that does some of what it should. Excuse me for a bit while I cry and curse and try to straighten this out.
