This question concerns IIS 6.0, DNS servers and domain names.

    First questoin:

Is there a way to register a domain name on your DNS server for Web server instead of registering the domain name in some kind of a web page.
Example: if i don't want to register a domain name on some kind of web page (like: dot.tk, register.com or networksolutions.com). Can i use my dns server instead of that. Can i make my dns server to give to my web server a domain name so that my site will be accessible to public ( like: other people browsing the web).

    Second question:

I am trying to get an e-mail domain name for my POP3 server. The server is configured properly.

    THANKS FOR HELP.

You have to deal with one of the Internic approved companies to register a domain name if you intend to have it available to the public.

    DNS

So as i understood that it is the only way i can make my web server available to public. From that i get that DNS server instlled on mt sistem is functioning only for my intranet and not for internet.

Ok here is my question to you Newt:
So if there is no other way to make my web server to be accessible to public other than the way you told me than how do these companies that give you a domain name function? How do they give a domain name to their sites and how to they give to other people domain names? I always wanted to know that and if you can make it very clear i will be very thankfull.

aram755 - the word in blue and underlined in my earlier post, Internic, is a link to a site that includes a FAQ with the information you asked about and quite a bit more.
