MS Knowledge Base is a bit thin on BAD_POOL_CALLER - this is the only one which may be relevant, but very specific
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310527

Failing any other suggestions it looks like a Repair of XP is on the cards. You will need to boot from your installation CD - hope you have one - ignore the first screen with the Repair option and proceed as if installing XP. Accept the licence agreement and on the next screen (or the next) you will be given the choice to repair your installation. Select this and follow the instructions on screen.

    Good Luck :)

from now on i will install GOBack

Only new installs I can think of were quicken 2000,and Kensington orbit mouse software & drivers, but it still was working for a day before this happened?

from now on i will install GOBack, which has helped on my other PCs

    Good idea :)

I have used Quicken 2000 for years on 98SE and XP Pro without any problems, so can't see that being the problem. The mouse - no idea, but , as you posted, worked fine for a day.

I would hold back on the repair for a while if you can in the hope that someone else will post with a better solution.

Isn't "Go Back" the same as system restore that is all ready on your XP. Did you try to restore to a time before your downloads?
I have also used "Quicken" on both systems with no problems.

    Good luck,
