Computer freezes ONLY when saving edited webpage.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

    Hi Nickhm
Can you give us a little more information? Some system specs perhaps? What are you using to edit these pages? How are you saving them? Not a lot to go on to offer up advice.

    Computer Freeze

    Hi Daisy,
I have 2 computers connected via a KVM switch. The one computer (newer) has an OS of Windows XP PRO, P4 1.8, 59 GB HD. 524 Ram it does not freeze when editing web page. I do not have file sharing enabled. I have cable ISP on both computers connected together via a D-Link router.
The older computer (the one that freezes) OS 98SE, P2, 10GB HD 4 partitions, 128RAM
The newer computer has McAfee Firewall & Virus Scan. The old has free version of Zone Alarm. I have heard that Zone Alarm causes a freeze. I don’t know if this is true or not, I doubt it.
I was having many freezing problems with various programs, the only way to unfreeze was to turn computer off. I went to BBS & I was advised to get Hi Jack run it & post a report I did & then was advised what changes to make. (LOOK BELOW FOR DETAILS) After I made the changes all the freezing stopped except this Web page deal. Sometimes the computer will freeze when I enter edit mode for Web page (not saving).
On Web page I can do Ctrl+Alt+Delete & it will go to a blue screen & then it will not continue, so I do Ctrl+Alt+Delete 3 or 4 times & the computer reboots.

These Web sites have an HTML editor. You just type in what you want in plain text, size, font, order, and color & then you click save/update & the editor writes the HTML code for you.

    I did all. Nick

Get HijackThis, run it. Click on Config, click on Misc Tools, click on Generate StartupLog. It will open in Notepad. Copy and Paste on this thread.
It would not hurt to give Housecall, online AV scan a visit.
You have spy/adware on your system. Gator is causing most of your freeze ups. You also have Ezula, this sometimes comes with Kazaa. I would recommend using Kazaa Lite, free.

Go get SpyBot Search & Destroy, it is free. Have it scan your system, and remove everything that shows up red. If Spybot asks to be allowed to run at next startup, allow it, and then reboot. It won't startup again by itself. It will then scan again as it cannot remove files that are in use. Again, remove what it finds in red.

Disable the following from starting up by going to Start\Run, type in Msconfig and press Enter. Click on Startup tab. Just uncheck them, the entries will not disappear, they just won't load at start.
CFD.exe is just a troubleshooter for your internet connection. Not needed to run all the time.
Winampa.exe maintains file associations for WinAmp, not needed at startup. Can be run manually when needed.
Hpgs2wnd.exe is for HP's Share to Web, not needed at startup. Can be run manually when needed.

This stuff with BART is apparently part of your internet connection, though you have Broadjump mentioned here. I would leave alone.

When all is done here, Restart in Dos Mode, and type in these commands at the prompt:
    smartdrv
    deltree c:\windows\cookies
    deltree c:\windows\history
    deltree c:\windows\temp
    deltree c:\windows\tempor~1
Press a Y that you want to delete, check the spelling at this time. This will clean out all temp files real good, those folders will be recreated upon bootup. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to do so when done.
Your system should be running much better after this.

After a fresh boot.....what are your resources at for your old computer?
Do a ctrl/alt/del, and list for us what you have in the close program dialogue box please?

    Hi again
You've got things loading in start up that are taking up valuable resources.
Go to start.....then run.....then type in: msconfig Click ok.....then look under the start up tab for anything you can uncheck.

Use this list to compare it to.
