    Hello,

I was using window XP pro.. I was all going well,
But yesterday window XP refuses to start ..i t shows the messege.. "hal.dll" currupt or missing , please reinstall the missing file.

it shows the file is missing in <windows root>system32\hal.dll
I am also using win98 so saw the file is present in winxp's system32 folder.

Then i looked the forum to find the answer. I found (http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?threadid=20877,)that use of sfc will help..
So I start the windowXP recovery console using the installation disk. but it says that command not recongnizable!!.

Is there any way to repair the corrupted windows intallation when the window is not starting , through the installation disk?
