    Just a general question...

Installed Kerio Firewall this past Friday. Since then Netscape IMAP mail server is very stubborn to logon. After about 3 to 10 cycles to accept my password (yes, save is always checked "Yes "), it will eventually let me in and download my email. Previous to this I never had a problem logging in.... other than the 1 to 3 day cycles all of us seem to run into when logon can be a problem at Netscape. Which is the problem.. Is this Netscape or could it be Kerio? Anyone having similar problems?

    Hi Dennis,

I've been keeping a lookout for other users having problems with Netscape Webmail, and sure enough, there are other users out there also experiencing a problem.

So it may not be Kerio after all, and more likely to be the Netscape Webmail server.

    Ramona :D

Thanks Ramona, always nice to know your looking out for us. When it comes to AOL, it's always a guessing game. Will keep monitoring the boards, see what develops. If it continues past tomorrow, will drop Kerio out of Netscape port control and see what happens.

The balkiness of Webmail has nothing to do with your Firewall. It expresses itself in two ways, and it is the same for AOL mail in Netscape.
With 7.02, and, would expect any 7.0x, you usually get the connect connect to server. Only occasionally, I have been asked for the password. I save it, and that is probably I can't connect. With 7.1, it tells me about exceeding the IMAP connections, to be fixed with a mysterious non-existing button. I was fooled a couple of times by the fact that I had that button in Myrealbox IMAP settings, but anything happened it is strict coincidence. There is a pref.js for the mail server which allows you to change the number of connections. But, I have not seen anything constant. What are the connections and where. The hint may be "cached connections ". And, I won't tell you what I did to make things work, because they may not work tomorrow.
I will report if things can be under control for two or three days in a row.
And, although I am no fan of AOL, I know how they function, what you see with Webmail is the norm. Why would anyone have a portal, like Netscape.com, and allow free e-mail to be accessed by entering a side door, and never have to put up with the sale pitches. Lycos, Excite, Yahoo, Hotmail, you name them, are limiting their accessibility, for business reasons.
I can think of only one program which has been successful to some extent. That is Eprompter, which allow you access to most webmails, POP3 accounts, and, yes, AOL.
But, have been having fits to keeping this going, because of the constant change of setting. I have beta tested EP, and it, usually, does a fantastic job. But it is barebone, and they almost went out of business, because people want everything, now! I better stop here.

    Well Hi There Westside

Trying to outguess AOL is like complaining about the weather.. just wait a minute, it'll change. As we both know, when Netscape IMAP doesn't work, do nothing, just wait. As I've done with mine, added Kerio a week tomorrow, have made NO changes to IMAP or Kerio. Two days ornery, one days works... tomorrow who knows. Interesting observation per IMAP mail view by-passing the web portal view. I'm sad to hear Netscape IMAP client accessing "Myrealbox IMAP" server can also be a challenge. Would you suggest going the POP3 connection for "Myrealbox "? Are there any advantages going the IMAP connection?
