I accidently downloaded some spyware program and ever since then when they would try to pop a window up while online I would get an error message about lstsvc.exe

As a result, I found and deleted this file assuming it was the spyware programe. Ever since then Ive had serious problems. My virus scanner no longer works because it says the serial numbers or something dont match and a few other programs Ive had to re-install because they say theyve been changed. Also, my hard drive is being filled up with something, but I dont know what. I used to have 1/4 of the drive free, now Im down to about 1/8 and it gets smaller every time I reboot. Something is being installed but I dont know what it is.

Would putting lstsvc.exe back help? I dont have any installation disks for Windows so Id have to get this file some other way.

If the name of the file is Istsvc.exe [sometimes an "I" looks like a small L], I don't think you want that file back. This page has complete removal instructions for the rest if it.
Perhaps you may want to try SpyBot Search & Destroy to get rid of the problem, if the above page seems not to be something you want to try. It would look for the above and any others like it, as you seem to have shrinking hard drive space. If Spybot asks to be allowed to run at next boot, allow and then reboot.

Thanks. I updated AdAware, and it did locate and delete that spyware. But I still dont understand why I keep losing hard drive space. Its about 2 gigs that Ive lost since I erased this file. And I moved about 2 gigs to another drive but only about 1 gig showed as being removed. Probably should just break down and get a new computer.

I am sure you tried the usual temp files, temp IE, and cookies, and what was starting up.
Have you looked into the settings for System Restore? This process will use up HD space due to System Restore Points being created. I believe one is created after every 10 hours of computer up time. Depending on the size of the HD, it could use up to 12%. This page shows exactly to check and change the settings, or clear out the folder.
