    Hi,
In my old practice with Computer that I have lend to a Nice,
I have a problem I installed a different Video Card Tsang Labs ET 4000 and after installing the card the Mouse will not work. Everything else is OK. Having made numerous inquiries I have been told that this would be the IRQ Interrupt Conflict and that it can be changed, however this is out of my League.
So I hope someone here can give me guidance.
    It is a ISA card.
    thanks

I'm not familiar with this card but I'll take a stab at it since no one else has so far. Here's what I found:

    Jumper Settings:
    JP2 IRQ9 Enable JP1 (0) Wait State
    --------------- ------------------
    xx0 1&2 IRQ9 Enabled xx0 1&2 Enabled

    0xx 2&2 IRQ9 Disabled (Default) 0xx 2&3 Disabled

W32 ISA VGA is a multi-functioned display card, it is
upgradable. Its 50 pin image port can be connected
with MACHscan image card to have a ral-time display
live video, linear scaling screen, supporting AVI
    driver for MSVideo for Win

Does this sound like the Card you have installed and if so with these jumper settings??

Here's where I found the Info.
    http://assist.acer.com/public/articles/974.htm

Also the Driver you installed, is it the latest? Here's one listed at the bottom of this page.
    http://www.elys.com/software/vesa/#tseng

Supply me with more system info if you could, primarily O/S being used. Then I can dig around with more info on hand.

    So please post back.

irdreed, sorry for not coming back sooner, but I had given up of getting any response so I hadn't been back for days.
    Glad to see you.
Fact is I do not know much about this card myself it was given to me some time ago. I am trying to help my little nice.
You are very close though the card is TsengLabs ET4000AX9218
I don't know the difference, but I think the AX is much older than the W32 it is ISA port. I have some Tseng Labs drivers on Floppy but I have not been able to get Windows to pick them up.
When I connect the card Windows installs the windows drivers and the display is fine I have a Desktop with 1024X768, but no Mouse. I have downloadet the Tseng Labs driver from the Link you have given. In regards to the Jumpers I am sorry to say I have no idea.
Some more help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

    Propritary systems

I'm not familiar with the card, however, some proprietary systems, Compaq for sure want any non Compaq hardware to use the same IRQ as the original Compaq hardware to work properly.

Find your old IRQ and change it from device manager/properties of the new hardware.

    hawk22 , ........need more information.
    rcerrato replied with a possibility

    Lets start with this:
What type PC (Dell, IBM, HP, etc)
    Operating System installed
Any Motherboard Info if possible (Processor, Chipset, number of PCI and ISA slots, etc)
Device Manager....What type and how many Icons besides devices that have a problem. (Any Red X's?).

    Found this today:
Windows XP does not support the Tseng Labs chip sets and since Tseng Labs has ceased operations the only option recommended is to replace the video card with one supported by XP.

    2 ideas:

    1. Try a different mouse :D

    2. Check the BIOS. I think there is a setting there where you can change the IRQ for the mouse, but also check that PnP OS is set to "Yes" (I assume U R uisng Win98, since this is a Win98 forum...), and if that doesn't work, try changing the M/board settings for the IRQs (instead of automatic, change to manaul, or vice versa). Normally this would not be necessary, you should be able to leave it on automatic

Thank you all for your replies,
I have to point out again this is a old PC (I think some of you would call it a Dinosaur)
It was a System that was put together for a small Office going back some time. That reminds me it had a Network Card in but I had taken it out I am not sure what sort it was except it was PCI.
The Mobo is a : P51430VX /250DM Explorer 2 Speed Easy with Intel 430VX chip set and a Pentium 166MMX CPU.
I haven't the PC here to check but I think it has 3PCI and 3 ISA slots.
There are no red or yellow markers in the Device Manager.
I have taken the card out at the moment and replaced it with a old Diamond Stealth card but this one has not enough power to let my little nice play the games, mind you no fancy games just plain simple little Kids games ( she is 6)
32 meg of ram 72pin and Windows 98SE.
And the Mouse Port is 9 Pin. The Mouse works fine with the Diamond Card.
Ryder I have to admit I never looked in the BIOS and I have a old 9 pin Mouse at work too.
I feel confident, that with all the help from you Guys here my little Nice will get to play her Games yet.
    thanks

    hawk22,
Wow, this thread sure expanded......great gobs of gallopin goat fur!!
I notice, as you said, you do have an "old" system. I had that Diamond Stealth video card in my old system and it also had the 430vx Chipset, so I'm starting to get a feel for the possible solution(?):p

Back in the original post it was mentioned about a IRQ Conflict, so view this article from MS, and check the set up of the IRQ Steering Tab.
