I have a cdrw and a dvd drive both installed on a machine with winxp. (i think for this case the brand of the cdrw and dvd r irrelevant).

The problem is that everytime i insert a cd, the cd is not detected, it gives me a "incorrect function" error, i can only detect cd's if i restart the pc with them inside the cdrw or the dvd. this problem is equal to both the cdrw and dvd.

I only had this problem reacently, they were working just fine before, this has to be a software (windows) problem, since it appens on both cd/dvd drives.

Also this problems doesn't exist if i'm running windows in safe mode.

Does anyone know what the h**l is going on.

    Thanks in advance

    hello OdLink,

You seem to have a common problem:
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22100

If You can only do this in safe mode, try to diagnose the problem this way - in normal mode subtract an app one by one, or in safe mode, add.

If it's a Windows process, that's tough, hard to subtract MS's stuff.

But if it's not an app, at least you've narrowed it down some.

    Regards - Charles
