I have installed a new DVD (JLMS XJ-HD1665) just for movie viewing. The sound is adjustible but the volume is way too low for comfprtable viewing. When playing music in the CD-ROM player the sound is very good.

The sound properties for the DVD are set to HIGH. I don't know anything else to check.

Did you check the volume setting in the software that you use to view your DVD movie? As you may need to set it to a higher level.

How do you have your DVD audio connected? Are the levels correct in the Windows Mixer Equalizer?

Yes, one annoyance from DVDs that gets me going. It seems that the audio levels in DVDs are not quite what they should be.

Amplified speakers or something as simple as making sure the audio cable is connected (DVD to motherboard or audio card) are probably your best bets. I did both, if that helps.
