Uploads hang

When I try to transfer a 30K file via FTP or as an e-mail attachment, my computer hangs during the upload and acts as if it is not responding.

I have no difficulty transferring a 1K file.

I can transfer files successfully using my dial-up connection. I only have the problem with my DSL connection on Windows XP.

I can transfer files successfully with my DSL connection on Windows 98SE.

 

If you have the 98 & the XP PCs on a network, do you have problems copying files from one PC to the other?

 

I just copied 3 files from my laptop (Windows 98SE) to my desktop (Windows XP) and vice versa. These are the only 2 computers networked on my LAN at home.

The largest file copied was 3.4MB. It copied in less than 30 seconds.

 

FWIW, I replaced my network hub with a router. Now my uploads are behaving normally.

 

Good decision.
