Has anyone had luck refilling their ink cartridges? I ordered the refill kit and have never done it before. I'd like to try and refill my HP deskjet 656c. They sent me refill directions after I ordered it and it didn't include my printer, yet it did on the original order. I hope I wasn't making a big mistake.
Drives me crazy, I just bought a new printer for my son in college on ebay for $33.95 delivered, and the ink replacements for his will cost $70.00. Mine is about $60.00. Ugh!!!
    Thank you.

I don't know about the particular cartridge. Yes, the companies essentially give away printers to sell cartridges. Some of the new printers have a chip in the cartridge to prevent refilling when it runs dry.

So those cartridges have to be refilled BEFORE they run dry.

Yes, I have refilled cartridges for an HP 380 PSC...it works ok most of the time, but after a couple of refills, it seems the cartridge is worn out, or won't print well...I order remanufactured cartridges at a lower cost, most of which are fine. I ordered the last ones from supermediastore.com and they came in 2-3 days. You could do a google search for print cartridges and choose yourself. Hope this helps some!

Unlike some other printer makes, many of HPs cartridges contain the printhead on the bottom of the cartridge. Since the printhead lifespan is designed around the maximum page volume that you can get from a cartridge, you can only refill those cartridges a couple of times before the printhead gives out.

Brands that use a seperate print head, such as some of the cannon models, can usually have their cartridges refilled a greater number of times.

    hi

Thanks for your help. Now I could kick myself. I tossed a Canon for an HP. It prints better, but this ink thing can be a royal pain.
