    denstoe Hi

Are you sure of that ? and free space ?
If the system is stable , disable sys restore, or reduce the size to minimum, If you disabled,, re=enable it then go to windows update if any critticals were installed there will be a restore point
    automaticaly made.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I'm sure. Been there done that. It only works if I create a restore point. Doesn't work if I update. ONLY if I create. So it works but not properly.

So your win me PC is up to date ? there was an update for just this problem years ago..

Only thing I can think other than that is to delete the whole restore folder from a minimul boot,, I thinks its some Old norton utility's thats been known to gooof up system restore on win me PC's but dont quote me.
If systen is stable I dont see any harm in deleting the restore folder, if applicable may-hap a dos expert would advise

"has stopped creating system checkpoints by itself. I can create them but windows isn't. Any ideas??? "

what have you disabled in msconfig ?
You didnt say any free space on hard drive ?

    Regards

Thanks again. I'm going to dump ME and put Win 2K on this box. That's stable! BTW asking if a Win ME machine is stable is a contradiction in terms!:D

    SSSSSHHHHH

or will get BB in here

I have absolutly no problems with windows ME,, But its a
OEM that came with ME,, and to boot Ive never had win 98
Just ms 3.1 then workgroups later win 95 for a little while.

Win ME can be stable , though I think its system restore
was (is)in the experimental stage when they stuffed it in,,

    Good luck

    Lonny
