    Hi guys and gals

I have been trying to unistall IE5 from my C: drive to eventually insall it on another drive. But after trying for a couple of days, I have to admit that I cant find anywhere any info as to how to accomplish this.

Is it possible to unistall IE from my W2k Pro, and if so, how???

    TIA

Have you checked in Control Panels Add/Remove Programs?

    Have you installed Win2000 Service Pack 1. If so read the following two links from Microsofts Knowledge Base;

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q273940

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q265078

If you havn't installed SP1 what version of Internet Explorer 5 are you using; 5, 5.1, 5.5 ? To find out; Open Internet Explorer, click on Help, and then about Internet Explorer.

The following links are also from Microsoft's Knowledge base. The first describes how to uninstall IE5, the second describes how to unistall IE5.1, and the third IE5.5

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=kb;en-us;Q217344

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q246194

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=kb;en-us;Q257234

You should note that all of these refer to how to install IE in Win95, Win98, and WinNT. I was unable to find any that specifically mention Win2000.

    Hope this helps :)

    Hi Rod

thanks for your help, but it really seems more trouble than its worth. i had checked the add/remove software and there was nothing there, which is when I became a bit peeved. If any other program was as difficult as this one to unistall, I am sure everyone would have gone up in arms... but in this case I guess we just have to live with what MS wants us to have or not have...

thanks for your time, but really, I did not expect to have to unistall it manually and risk having all sorts of after effects - I will have to simply let it gather dust in some corner of the HD, but really, someone out there with good programming skills, should put together a simple program to strip Windoze of all the extra bagagge like this.

    cheers

    Hi

Thanks a bunch for this little gem - I knew someone must/should have done it. I think its about choice!!!!

btw. I am running w2k but noticed that IEradicate did not work for W2k SR2. I have looked at my system admin and found my version to be Microsoft Windows 2000 2.00.2195, but when I start my computer the splash window says Widnows 2000 Professional, but I dont seem to recall which version it is. To summarise.... (buff...), can anyone tell me where to go to find exactly what version of w2k I am running.

    TIA - again
