When modifying sound scheme's in XP you can save any changes that you make. I have made changes and saved it as 'Stephen's Scheme'. My question is where does this file/information get stored so that in case i mess it up, i can restore it easily.

The info is in the registry.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes

You should be able to export that key and if it ever gets messed up, restore it with the reg file.
