Modem Install Problems

    Hi all,

    Have a HSP micromodem56 I am trying to get installed for friend and cant. The puter sees it the drivers are installed but wont detect it... this is getting frustratin as I have removed it re installed it and to no avail i cant get it to detect. Any have any ideas as they would be greatly appreciated.

    Which OS are you using? Is it a V.90 or V.92 modem?

    useing WIN98SE and I belive its a 90

    Pull the modem out of the computer.
    Boot to safe mode.
    In device mangler, remove all modems, com ports, and anything in "Other Devices ".
    Restart, go into BIOS setup.
    Disable COM 2, set PnP OS Installed to NO, set Reset Configuration Data to YES.
    Restart, let things install as needed. Restart if prompted.
    Shutdown.
    Put the modem in.
    Restart.
