I hve been able to play back cds etc on my PC up until now. This morning I have been getting the following error message:

** 0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller **

    Hi rubglo

Since it just started, I would give this a try.

    Click Start/ Programs/ Accessories/ MS-DOS Prompt
At the C:\WINDOWS> prompt type scanreg /restore
    and hit Enter
Note the space between scanreg and the /

Registry Checker will ask, Would you like to continue?
    Click YES

Select a date before the problem started and click OK.
