windows update

    can not download window updates. never finishes downloading. when i use ie 6 when i click on a url new window tries to open but dosent finish.i think im missing sscript.oxc

    bhstrt--I understand that you cannot access the Windows Update site.
    Windows Update requires that ActiveX Controls be enabled. The easiest way to do that is to put the Windows Update URL
    http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
    into Trusted Sites. You do that by clicking IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab|highlight Trusted Sites|Sites|add the WU URL in the line provided|Apply|OK.
    If that does not work there are lots of other things that can be done
    http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
    http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.c.../ansi/iuctl.cab
    but try the above first.
    What makes you feel you need sscript.oxc? (By the way, there is no such file.)
