    All of a sudden mycomputer tells me my EMM 386 is not loading in DOS and when it gets to the windows screen I get the Error message headlined Msgsrv32,,,,,,the contents says ' This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Then when I click on the CLOSE button a blue screen appears with the following message.......A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C1C7659D in VXD VSYNTHD(03) + 0000035D. The current application will be terminated. Then I have to CNTRL,ALT,DEL to try and start again.....This is WAY over my head....What does this all mean and how do I fix this problem???

    My home computer (at my mums) also does that! stupid error messages then it decides to blue screen. then " your system is dangerously low on resources" THEN I GET PI**** OFF AND HIT THE RESET BUTTON. If it keeps doing it, reebot, theres prob some corrupt file somewhere.

    REEBOOT IS THE BEST WAY :D

    This could be caused by VSYNTHD.vxd [a sound driver] being corrupt, or your AV program is corrupt. This along with the Emm386.Exe not loading from the C:\Config.Sys file could mean a failing hard drive.

    Plansdowne, Mark P62,,,,I have a brand new Hard Drive I Fdisked it and formatted it twice but my boot up continually says this.

    Everything listed is in the order it appears on my bootup.........

    Memory Manager not detected.

    Creative SB16 Emulation Driver requires EMM386 or similar.

    Creative SB16 Emulation Driver not loading.

    The following file is missing or corrupted C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS

    There is an error in your CONFIG.SYS on line one.

    Windows Expanded Memory Driver Version 4.95 copyright 1988-1995 Microsoft Corporation.

    EMM386 not installed Xms manager not present.

    OKAY............All that said.....I went to Run......typed in Msconfig and went to the Microsoft system information

    I clicked on the Config.sys tab and this is what I saw

    1st line had a checked box..... next to the box was the Microsoft logo flag....after the logo was DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS

    2cnd line had a checked box and no logo and thi written DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE

    3rd linehad no box but had this written REM---By HiSpeedCD-ROM Drive installation program. 9/2/101---

    4th line had a checked box and the Microsoft flag logo then this written LASTDRIVE=Z

    5th line had a checked box with no logo and this written DEVICE =C:\HXCD-ROM\CDROM.SYS /D:MSCD000

    I have written these down EXACTLY as they appear. If there was a space or Capital letter or hyphen or three hyphens that is exactky how it is written.

    Does any of this info help figure out just what is wrong and where?????

    I have been told that my Motherboard is not compatable with my creative sound card and Creative Modem. Must be true because everytime I try to load my Modem I can't get my computer to recognize it at all so I cannot go online anymore.

    Not sure how your Config.Sys file has a C:\Dos entry, but this is how it should be:
    Device=C:\Windows\Himem.Sys
    Device=C:\Windows\Emm386.Exe Ram
    Dos=High,Umb
    Rem DEVICE=C:\HXCD-ROM\CDROM.SYS /D:MSCD000

    The above is all you need.

    The rest that you have posted is not needed. The 3rd line is just a REMark. The 4th is saying that the last drive letter is Z, it is that way by default, not needed. The 5th line is trying to load a dos driver for the CD rom, windows does not need this as it has it's own drivers. I edited the last line so that you will have it there, but will have no affect. That is what the "Rem" does, it says this is just a Remark and do nothing with it.
    You can use Notepad to edit C:\Config.Sys, it is a text file. While you are at it, look in the C:\Autoexec.Bat file and look for a line with MSCDEX in it. If there is, put "Rem" without the quotes at the beginning of the line, such as I have above. If you do not have a C:\Autoexec.bat file or it is blank, that is fine.
