IE has a DNS problem? But I don't have a DNS-server.

So, I have electricity broadband, and it's been working fine through my ethernet port. One day IE started to act wierd. Pages weren't found, and so on. Now IE won't do anything, just load a file called dnsproblem.html or someting like that. Netscape and Mozilla Firebird work for some time and then they stop finding sites too. This is fixed when I reboot. And I can then go on the web for a while again.

Now I'm wondering if someone has the same problem and if it might be somekind of update I did with the windows updater? I don't use a dns-server so I really don't know what the problem is. It just stopped working one day.

    Win XP, IE 6.0.2800

Have a look here: Adjust Windows XP DNS Cache Settings

Of course you do! Otherwise you won't be able to connect to ANY site on the Internet. You are using the DNS server of your ISP...

What I meant was that I'm not supposed to do anything to the settings, that my ISP does all the DNS settings for me. Now I'm wondering if they have a problem at my ISP, something wrong with their DNS.
All my non-internet connections are fine. MSN, Online gaming and so on.

first try flushing your local DNS cache:

    from a command prompt:

    ipconfig /flushdns

check that nothing has been added to

    \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.

alternatively you can change the DNS server info for your ISP connection to

    primary: 4.2.2.1
    secondary: 4.2.2.2

    (GTE)

    hope this helps

Nothing still, but Firebird settles my need, except for the fact that lot's of flash site's don't work properly and that msn-messenger links with Explorer.
Thanks anyways, I hope the problem is at my ISP's end so I can get a nice price cut for the month.:D
