    I'm looking for the fastest motherboard on the market today. I've had good luck with Asus boards in the past, at least they're still running.

    No such thing. It's all up to the chipset, and the newer intel (400mhz double pumped) chipsets are the fastest for single CPU boards.
    If Asus is your thing, go with it :D
    If AMD is your thing, the KT400a seems to be the chipset of choice, next to the (in) famous Nvidia/NForce, which is definitely faster, especially with DDR2700 double channel.
