    Hi Lis,
Does the file you select have a .bmp file type suffix ?
How do you go about selecting it ?
If you look in, presumeably the Folder, c:\Windows for the file you chose as wallpaper, is the file there ?
Right click an empty area on the desktop, look in the entries when you click the Background tab. Is the file name there ?
If so, and you select it, does it show at the next boot-up ?
    regards

Right click on desktop, properties, browse and select a jpeg image for wallpaper and all is normal. However, after shutdown the image (wallpaper) will not return? Doing a restart the image returns? Merlin, thanks for your concern.

Not necessarily. If you have active desktop enabled (view as web page), then you can use a .jpg

If it's still not, then I would think there may be something wrong with the .jpg
    Have you tried multiple images?
Have you tried converting it to .bmp?
Have you got any 3rd party desktop managers installed?
Are you using TweakUI, or something like that to change icon size/placement?
Are you using a 3rd party program to set the desktop, or through Display Properties?

    Hi Lis

Struggling with the wallpaper again :) ?

Here is an excellent (free) image editor:
    http://www.irfanview.com/

Using this you can go to the tools menu and resize your image then save it as a .bmp file in the Windows folder.

My friend has had similar problems to your's, so I resized it (smaller) and it works fine.

You can crop your image as well. Click and drag across part of the image to select and then click Crop Selection in Tools.

I always convert to .bmp files, View as Web Page always seems to play up after a while.

    Matt

Windows resolved the issue again? I have the image editor in reserve. Thanks mattman. Shall we say, "case closed "?
