    Hello all,

I have what I thought is a simple problem, but it taught me that I don’t know ****. Here goes, in Windows 2000 the Display Properties screensaver has Password Protection. Every time I log on it resets the Password Required check mark and resets the time to 15 minuets. How do I override this function???

    GPO

I would guess that its a Group Policy Object being forced on you. Are you in a domain? If so then there is nothing that you can do about it, this setting has been set by the domain admins and only a change of heart from them will allow you to not have a password protected screen saver.

Yes I am on a Domain, but doesn’t the local setting on the computer, control its own settings??? I am not very familiar with network controls so I maybe way off base. I do know that a new Package Command came out and that’s when the new irritating setting started.

Only if the domain admin says you can. There are options in GPO's that say they will override any local settings.

I think your best course of action is to buy your admins a box of choccies and use it to bribe them into letting you have control of your screen saver settings! :D I doubt you will get anywhere though, there are good reasons for having the screen saver password protected. ( i assume that this is what you want to disable)
