My hard-drive failed yesterday, and I replaced it with a spare, and restored the image from last week using Drive Image. I cannot remember if the backup had the W32.MSBlast Security Patch installed or not. How can I tell for sure?

    Thanks.

srl746--I am assuming you are talking about the MS patch offered in MS03-026
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp
If you click on the + to the left of "Additional Information on this patch ", you will find methods of determining if the patch is installed. You will also have to reference MSKB article
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823980
P.S. I run Win98, and if I run Windows Update, I have the option of seeing what patches have already been installed (Installation History). This is done by analysis of the hard drive, so I would think this would be the simplest method. However, you can not always rely on this info.

    Welshjim,

Yes, That is the one.... When I run Windows Update it always presents me with a large list of stuff. A lot of it I *KNOW* is already on.... so that makes me a little uncomfortable.

Is there a specific DLL I can check the CRC on? Or... something simiar?

    Thanks!

srl746--The information and links I have provided in the first two paragraphs of my post above will allow you to determine whether the patch is on that other hard drive.

hfnetchk from Microsoft and Shavlik should be able to determine your patch level accuratly for you.

    edit note from Newt
rdzien - I fixed your link. The forum wants a different format than the one you used that would work fine as part of a web page.

If you want to see how the forum wants them laid out, edit your post here and you can see the raw code used.
