    Hello to everyone.

I run windows 98se. Specs: Intel Celeron 900 MHZ, 128MB SD RAM DIMM, 15GB Hard Drive.

Recently I have been having problems with many blue screen erors and hangs. I uninstalled many programs that were sitting on my desktop which I never used; I uninstalled many files I was instructed to uninstall to help clean up my system. I even re-installed Windows 98se over itself. But not of these efforts seemed to help.

Right now the problem I am most concerned with is that I can no longer change the power settings (control panel > power management >power management properties). Before I had re-installed windows, I used to be able to change the power settings for System standby, Turn off monitor and Turn off hard drive. But now, when I access the power management properties window, all those areas are grayed over and you can't type anything in them in order to modify those settings to your liking.

Would appreciate it very much if anyone has a fix for this problem.

    Thank you,

    Beach Boy

Hi Beach Boy- Have you made sure that your power profile is loading from System Configuration? Start|Run type msconfig and look over the contents of the Startup tab. In particular, make sure that the two entries for "Load Power Profile" are checked. Hit Apply and exit. Give that a try! Good Luck, clydeo22.

Hi Clydeo22, thanks for your effort, but I already have those 2 load power profiles checked, and I still have the problem. Any other suggestions?
