    Hi

The problem I'm having is whenever I try to post on a MSN group and when I try to go to windows update download page I get the "The page can not be displayed" message. The loading indicator moves slowly to about half way and then stops and then the "the page can not be displayed" page comes up.
I tried to get to the download page of windows update and post on the MSN group page a number of times and the same thing happens every time.

This is the only place I'm having problems, I have MSN instant messaging and that works fine.

I have updated and ran a virus check, No viruses, I have cleaned out my internet options folder along with all cookies.

Any one have a clue on what the problem is?

Geri--Don't know about MSN, but Windows Update requires that ActiveX controls be enabled. Easiest way is to put Windows Update URL in Trusted sites. (IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab|highlight Trusted Sites|click Sites|Follow instructions|click Apply|OK.)
Other possibilities are interference from a popup stopper/ad blocker, firewall. You could try disabling each individually (if you have them) to see if that helps.
And here are two troubleshooting site for Windows Update
    http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
    http://www.infinisource.com/techfiles/winup-errors.html

P.S.--If you pay MSN, you could phone tech support.

Geri, you are not alone. I have been having the same problem for days now and it is driving me nuts. Any one know what the problem is with the update site? Has Microsoft shut the site down due to the last two nasty worms? A knowledgeable answer would be greatly appreciated.;) , I have many friends who count on me to save their bacon puter wise, this one has me stumped. Thanks in advance, one and all.

Lonestar166--You may have seen from other threads here, that you are not alone in having trouble accessing Windows Update this week, but many report the problem is getting better. Try again today. The Blaster and SoBig viruses have tied things up.
If still no luck, have you tried the other things I suggested in my post to Geri?
And, while it may not make any difference as long as the redirect stays active, you should change the URL on your shortcut to Windows Update to one I gave you. (Your URL is a redirect to the URL I gave, but redirects may not stay active indefinitely.)
