    Hey doxxxx...

    Welcome to the forum :D

    What OS are you running?

I had a problem updating a WinNT 4.0 workstation with using Windows Update...basically got the same "Failed, Failed, Failed" you got...

I found that this MS Knowlegde Base article worked for me...

        http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;175960

You could also try the Windows Update Troubleshooter page

        http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

    Hope this helps... :)

    Try this
Goto the Cryptograhic Services , then disable startup of the service, and then reboot

Once you reboot, goto the command prompt and type this

    ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2

After you do that, go back to the Services menu and then set the startup
options of the service back to automatic, and then hit the Start button to
    restart the service
