Install Sheild error....

Hey all.
Haveing a problem (XP Home), trying to install the Sims, or any thing for that matter... But they do install on other computers....XP home or Pro..

Says that M$ Installer has encounted an error and do you wanna send the usuall ****...to M$

But my question is, how can the windows installer become corrupt? and now that it is, does anyone know how to fix this?
with out wipping the PC and reinstalling it....lol..

AND DONT TELL ME THIS IS A NEW BLOODY VIRUS.....

Install Sheild and Microsofts installer are two differant animals
though MS sometimes uses installshield
Maybe the same thing on XP I wouldnt know,PeteC would (will)

Give us the exact error message

Why had you recently contracted one or cleanup after one ?
