My computer has been randomly restarting ever since I got it. I took it back to the store where I bought it, and they changed the RAM from one stick of 512mb to two sticks of 256, and charged me for it. (Mind you, it was only a month later.) So my computer, for awhile, stopped rebooting. At least, as much as it was. At first it was multiple times a day, then after the fix it went to once or twice a week, maybe 3 at the worst.

So I felt like I could live with that. But now it's gotten unbearable again.

I've already set up my computer to not automatically reboot when I have a problem, so I could get the appropriate information.

    The information I get is:
    Stop: 0x00000050 (0xf8758a14, 0x00000001, 0xf16457d2, 0x00000000)

    Kmixer.sys - address f16457d2 base at f1628000, Date Stamp 3d622c1c

    Can anyone help???

check your drivers for your sound card. looks as if the driver you have installed is not the right one for XP or is conflicting with something else you have installed. i can check further for you if you let me know what kind of sound card you have. i might be able to find the appropriate drivers for it if i have the model number from the sound card or you can go to the manufacturers website and look for the updated drivers. to resolve the issue for now you can go into safe mode by pressing F8 before the windows screen comes up and select safe mode then go into the device manager and uninstall the drivers from there. perhaps the builder of your computer has a driver disk that came with the sound card and if so you should be able to remedy the problem by installing those drivers. please post back if you would like me to help find the appropriate drivers.

    regards

Since Kmixer.sys does mixing of audio, you may have a bad sound card or the wrong drivers for the card.

And if you bought the PC a month ago, they certainly should make it work properly and not charge you for it. I'd complain loudly if it were me. First to the shop and next, if that didn't work, to the Better Business Bureau.

What sort of warrantee did you get with the PC?

I just wanted to post that I found the new drivers for the sound card (Creative PCI es1371/es1373) and I installed them. So we'll see where it goes from there.

Also, I wanted to clarify: I bought the computer a year ago. That's when it was really rebooting a lot and having problems, and it was a month after I bought it that I took it in. It was behaving well up until lately (rebooting maybe once or twice a week, at most 3 times), so I decided to see if I could fix it myself.

(The reason I never took it to the shop again was because I was working/going to school a lot and did not have time to drop it off to the place I bought it from, unfortunately.)

So we'll see if the new driver will fix the problem. Thanks!

    :D
