Installed the Fax which comes with XP Home Edition. In the Fax Properties>Tracking Tab under Fax Monitor....Automatically Open the Fax Monitor when a fax is being:
    Sent
    Received
    are both checked.

Everything else on this tab is also checked.

When I send or receive a fax, the Fax Monitor does not pop up. Tried opening the Fax Console and Fax monitor still does not pop up.

I don't see progress either way sending or receiving a fax. When the fax console is open it says "in progrss" and that stays there until I close out and re-open the fax console. If left open I have no way of knowing if the fax is actually finished being sent or received until I close out then re-open the Fax Console.
What could be the problem here?

P.S. Found out the fax is actually sent and received but I don't know it until I close out and re-open the Fax Console.

Modem is Zoom V.92 PCI Fax Modem with On-Board DSP
    Model: 3025-00-00.

ACEH....... you have ask the same question I was searching an answer for. When I first installed the fax software for Windows XP it worked beautifully. Now the pop up window does not come up when my phone rings to allow me to answer the fax. If I am receiving a fax I must open the fax console then the fax monitor and click answer now. The fax also does not disconnect when the fax is finished, just keeps saying receiving fax although I know it is done, I have to click disconnect. This is very frustrating as I receive faxes from a company that does not notify me before they send it. I know when I see their name on caller ID that they are sending me a fax then I have to open the fax console then the fax monitor and then answer now. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the fax software but still did not fix the problem. Can someone please help us out??????

    whompuscat,

I had all but given up on this post. Thanks for reviving it, although I'm sorry you now have the same problem.

Thanks Pete, that is a very helpful site, however, it did not give information about this particular problem. Somewhere, somehow, something happened that prevents the pop up window from coming up when the phone rings. I don't know if you know what I am talking about but it had this little yellow box that came up when the phone rang and the ring would also come through your computer speakers. The box said something like answer fax now and you would click it to receive the fax. If I receive a fax unknowingly I cannot open the fax console quick enough to turn the fax monitor on.

Afraid I'm working in the dark on this one - send the occasional fax, but have never used the receive facility.

If I find anything I'll post back with it.

This is a shot in the dark - but - is it possible that your pop up stopper is preventing the fax pop up? I know it shouldn't, but I have had many things happen that shouldn't.

    Just a thought

Good thought. I disabled both my pop-up stopper and my ad blocker and tried it, still did not come up.

I did notice something interesting yesterday as I tried to get to the bottom of this problem. I uninstalled XP Fax from windows components, rebooted then reinstalled it. I then closed out all MY programs I had running. Fax Monitor worked just fine. I restarted all MY programs one at a time until ALL were up and running and Fax Monitor still worked just fine. I rebooted the system and that's when Fax Monitor stopped working.
Obviously something happened during the reboot...any ideas?

P.S. I again tried to close out all MY running programs but Fax Monitor did not work. It only appears to work with a fresh install of the program and no reboot.

    Netwaiting Program?

Due to a problem with Microsoft Fax I'm having, Zoom Modem Tech Support told me to download some beta drivers, uninstall the current modem drivers and any "Netwaiting programs "....would a "Netwaiting program" be something like Modem on Hold (not quite sure what the mean by Net Waiting Program)?

    For what it's worth.

I have a machine at my office and one at home. Both use the US Robotics 2976 Hardware Modem (non win) and have never had a moments trouble with Microsoft Fax Service.
