ok. I made a bad choice by installing tweakUI. It **** up my machine. I hate looking at low res icons. Now the icons in my control panel, desktop, files icons are all in low resolution. Something like they lost their 16-bit colours?! I am really frustrateed. Tried searcing everywhere but could not find any answer. Anyboy knows how to change them back? and i dun seem to be able to get rid of TWEAKUI from my system.

Hi Toysoldier - and Welcome to the Board :)

Start here under I = Icons
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

I wonder if you used the correct version of TweakUI - the latest requires SP 1 to be installed as I recall. Visit this page

Have you unistalled TweakUI through Add/Remove Programs? - or what have you done.

Post back and we'll try and sort this for you if none of the above are of help.

Did you see this under the link I posted ?

    " To enable true-color icons:

First of all, your display color-depth needs to be set to 16-bit or higher. Double-click on the Display icon in Control Panel, and click on the Settings tab. Adjust the Color Palette to your liking. Note: Your video card or monitor may not support the higher color depths necessary to use true-color icons.
Next, choose the Effects tab, and make sure the Show Icon Using All Possible Colors option is checked.
    Press Ok when you're done.

If your Show Icon Using All Possible Colors option is grayed out, open the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, and change the UserPreferencesMask value to 9c 00 00 80. "

From memory, changes you make using TweakUI remain in place after you uninstall it. So you will need to reinstall it again to change your changes.
As Pete suggests, upgrade to the latest version. I also recall (rightly or wrongly ;) ) that to upgrade to the new version you must have the previous version installed.

The previous version of Tweakui must be uninstalled before installing the later version.
