Repeating error in Event viewer

The server {22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

I get this over and over every two minutes in my system event viewer. It doesn't happen right when I boot up and sometimes I will go a couple of days without a single error. But once it starts it won't stop till I reboot/shutdown.

I read something on the net that said it might be related to Windows Media Player. I uninstalled it and that cured my problem for 3 or 4 days and then the error showed up again

Has anyone else expereienced this error? How can I make it stop?

 

That "server" indicates WMP6. Is that the version you had and removed?

Are you only seeing the one error or are there others that might be related? For instance, a system error and application errors/warnings?

And take a read thru This page to see if any of that info helps. Pay special attention to the .reg file linked to the page that will re-register DCOM.

I was running WMP 9 not 6. I don't think this computer ever had version 6 on it.

This error is the only error I get. Over and over without fail. I tried re-installing WMP 9 to see if that would solve the problem. It hasn't.

So i will try the DCOM re-register thing later today. I will let you know how it turned out.

 

Well I haven't had an error since the 15th. So I am holding off on the reg fix. We have had a rash of viruses here at work and one of the proactive steps was to ensure we had the latest DCOM update. So maybe that corrected my problem.
